Draft pending legal review. These terms describe how Gize is actually operated and are written in plain language, but they have not yet been reviewed by a qualified Ethiopian lawyer. Do not rely on them as final until that review is complete.

Terms of Service

1. What Gize is

Gize is software for tracking corporate tax and statutory compliance obligations in Ethiopia — VAT, PAYE and pension, withholding tax, advance profit tax, and annual licence and audit renewals — together with a document vault for records that must be retained.

Gize is a record-keeping and reminder tool. It is not tax advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified accountant or tax professional. You remain responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for meeting your obligations on time. We will not be liable for a penalty, interest or assessment arising from a missed deadline, an incorrect entry, or reliance on the software instead of professional advice.

2. Your account

You must give accurate registration details and keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@gize.et if you believe it has been accessed without permission.

Where you invite colleagues or clients into an entity, you are responsible for the access you grant them. Roles are enforced per entity; an auditor, for example, is read-only.

3. Subscriptions, trial and payment

  • New accounts start with a 14-day trial. No payment card is required to begin.
  • Paid plans are billed in Ethiopian birr through Chapa, including Telebirr. Prices exclude VAT unless stated otherwise.
  • Plans renew for the period you selected until cancelled. Annual plans are billed once for twelve months.
  • You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future billing; it does not refund a period already paid.
  • We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice. A price change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

4. Your data belongs to you

You own the records you put into Gize. We claim no ownership over them and we do not use them for any purpose other than operating the service for you.

You can export your data. Because Ethiopian tax law requires records to be kept for a minimum of ten years, documents are not deleted simply because a subscription ends — the retention window in the vault is computed by the database and cannot be shortened, including by us through the application.

5. Availability

We aim to keep Gize available and your data intact, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. The application is designed to keep working offline, and changes made without a connection are queued and sent when it returns.

We may suspend the service for maintenance, or suspend an account that is being used in breach of the acceptable use policy.

6. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by Ethiopian law, our total liability arising from your use of Gize is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, penalties, or interest charged by a tax authority.

7. Ending the agreement

You may stop using Gize at any time. We may end this agreement if you materially breach it, or with reasonable notice if we discontinue the service — in which case we will give you a route to export your records.

8. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in the application before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
